Betrayed at the Finish Line

We won state, but my twin brother, childhood friend, and bestie gave my only college recommendation spot to a fake victim. They smashed my phone and left me to collapse with a fever in the rain. I woke up to photos of them on vacation with her—wearing my dead mother's necklace. I blocked them all and took a full ride down south. One year later, at the rowing finals, I stroked my boat past theirs. My brother begged me to come home. I said: “You're not my brother anymore.”
