Sent Away, Shot Up

For six years, I loved Adrian. When I finally confessed, he said yes. Then I overheard the truth: our love was an act, a trick to ship me to the Southwest so he and our three best friends could stay with their new favorite, Nina. I didn't cry. I smiled. They think they sent me away. They have no idea I applied to a classified federal weapons program. They promised to visit. Soon, they'll be begging just to find me.
